I can't say I'm all that thrilled with the tapered pin holding the hairspring, lol, I find it a bit unhandy. Also, the face posts are fastened with tapered pins, another first in my collection. Check out the compass scratches marking the EW and EL pivot holes on the face side of the watch-thats them by the rust splotch. I'd like to buy or build gold colored hands eventually to show up better against the tarnished face patina. Not all the parts missing in the pics are actually missing-I just didn't put them back on the watch. The crystal needed turns out to be an inbetween size. The winding ratchet/ click parts were definitey the same, as well as the plate and bridge shapes. I hope someone will be able to confirm the watch's idenity, as I'm going by a nearly identical watch found on an online article. It looks like an old repair, so I'm assuming it will be fine. THE GOOD - Last night was the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Olympics - I have seen probably every Olympics Opening Ceremony since I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s and they seem to get more lavish every time - all I can say about China's ceremony last night is WOW - it was stunningly spectacular, in a brand new amazing arena they call 'The Bird's Nest'. As I was taking pictures today I noticed one centre wheel cog has been grafted in. Okay, here's pictures of this crazy thing. The barrel has a notched pin to catch the end of the spring, so maybe I can drill a t style spring if I must. Since the case has a Scottish looking emblem onīecause the case has a nice looking liner under Baywatch (3370 AD) to Playwatch (4138 AD) This is the language spoken in the eastern corner of Dreamland, traditionally vulnerable to invasion. Note the existence of the Oyster languages, not just Moonshine bordering Play. The idea that it was an export piece is likely Playwatch is the theoretical ancestor of a cluster of Dreamlandic languages that may stay in contact with Moonshine. Despite the watch's crude construction, I It uses a bar typeĮscape lever and had an unusual oval roller The balanceĬock jewel retaining screws have torn slots and Another interesting thing on this one is that it seems the balance shaft has beenĭrilled and a new pivot pressed in on one end (and is slightly off center or bent). After derusting a few things, it wants to run when I apply rotation to the minute shaft, but it seems something isn't set up right in the pallet lever area. One thing I've never seen before is a pair of compass arcs scratched into the pillar plate to locate the escape wheel and lever pivot holes. The first thing Id like to do is replace the mainspring. The watch has lots of repair dates going back to the 1890's so it's reasonable that the wrong mainspring may have been installed. I bought a seven jewel 1880s Waltham with a few problems. Agreed, I plan on posting some pictures one day soon.
